Here are the answers to some frequently asked questions we receive about this treatment.
What is the All-on-4 system?
All-on-4 implants consist of: four dental implants placed at strategic locations in the jaw, and an arch of replacement teeth anchored by those implants. We match the shape and color of your replacement teeth to your gum line or any other natural teeth.
Is the All-on-4 system right for me?
All-on-4 implants are only recommended for patients who have lost at least an entire dental arch of teeth or are about to lose all their teeth on the same dental arch. The implant system also can be installed for denture wearers who want an alternative to removable false teeth. Jawbone deterioration typically does not disqualify a patient from being a viable candidate for the All-on-4 system. In fact, 80 percent of patients who were told they were not able to receive traditional implants still can receive the All-on-4 system. This is because the installation of All-on-4 implants typically just utilizes the jawbone’s front area, which tends to have more density and eliminates the need for bone grafts or sinus lifts.
How does All-on-4 differ from dental implants?
Unlike a traditional dental implant, a healing period of several months following the installation is not necessary. This is because shorter implants are placed in the dense frontal jawbone.
How long is the All-on-4 procedure?
Each patient’s treatment needs vary, but on average, installing the All-on-4 system takes approximately 2 ½ hours per dental arch or about 5 hours for the full mouth. Either way, on the same day of your appointment, you will leave our office with a complete set of beautiful, functional replacement teeth.
If you are nervous about your procedure, or already experience dental anxiety, ask about sedation dentistry. We offer nitrous oxide and IV sedation so that you can remain comfortable and calm throughout your procedure.
How much does All-on-4 cost?
Treatment cost depends on certain factors, such as the extent of the surgery, and whether you need any other procedures in combination with the All-on-4 system. Lake Forest Smiles accepts dental insurance, and several different forms of payment, including third-party financing through CareCredit and LendingClub. Want to learn more or see if you qualify? Contact our office and ask about our in-house financing offer too.
